CONFERENCE ON DEINSTITUTIONALISATION OF CHILDREN 2015

 

On December 10th & 11th 2015,   OrphanCARE with the support of the Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development held a two day Conference on ‘Deinstitutionalisation of Children : Overcoming Challenges and Tribulations.This is a follow-up of the forum held on 11th and 12th June 2014.

Speakers and panel of experts included Sir Roger Singleton (Managing Director LUMOS), Mr Andy Lilicrap (Project manager and Social Work Advisor One Sky Foundation), Mr Robert Glover (Care For Children, UK), Dr Kanya Eka Santi (Head of Bandung College of Social Welfare, University of Bandung Indonesia), Dr Amna bt Md Noor (Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Human Ecology, University Putra Malaysia), Mr Tata Sudrajat ( Program Director Families First Signature, Save the Children Indonesia), Ms Lari Cannon (Trainer, Adoption and Foster Care Specialists, Orphancare Foundation), Mr Quek Kia Ann (Department of Social Welfare Malaysia).

Over 200 participant joined in discussions to raise awareness in the community about issues pertaining to reintegration and adoption of orphans and share best practices from other countries. Relevant parties were also urge to re-look at policies and procedures related to adoption and enhance cooperation between government agencies, NGO’s and the community, on adoption issues.
